What we do

We help institutions decide under weather, climate and socio-economic risk. Every engagement starts from the decision to be made, and the evidence is built around it, in four ways:

  • Monitor and diagnose — what is happening now, and what happened before: historical analysis, attribution, impact records and real-time monitoring.
  • Anticipate — what is likely to happen, from days to years ahead, with quantified uncertainty and thresholds that trigger action.
  • Assess risk and impact — who and what is exposed, how vulnerable they are, and what it costs, in the units decision-makers manage.
  • Advise and strengthen — policy and investment advice, institutional and system design, and capacity building, so that the evidence keeps working after we leave.

We apply this to environmental risks — weather and climate, water, oceans, landslides, biodiversity — and to socio-economic risks — health, nutrition and food security, prices and markets, migration and displacement, energy demand and financial risk transfer. The sector pages below show examples.
